Huntington, W.Va. – The Duquesne University Department of Athletics continued its positive trend wih the NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) Wednesday, as 91 percent of student-athletes who enrolled as freshmen in 2016 graduated within a six-year year window. It marks the sixth consecutive year the Dukes have posted a GSR of 90 or higher, and the score of 91 for Duquesne matches a school record it set in 2019.
A total of eight programs for the Dukes earned a perfect 100 score in the latest GSR rankings. Included are men's and women's basketball, women's bowling, women's lacrosse, women's rowing, women's swimming & diving, men's tennis and volleyball. The Duquesne swimming & diving program has notched a perfect score 13 consecutive years, while it also marks the sixth consecutive 100 for lacrosse.
For men's basketball, its perfect score is well above the national average of 86 percent and its first 100 in program history. The previous high was a GSR score of 92 two years ago.

The NCAA has tracked GSR for more than two decades, and student-athletes have surpassed the original benchmark goal of 80 percent, with long-term graduation rate increases being observed year after year from an overall 74 percent in 2002 to 91 percent this year, an NCAA record. Since the implementation of the GSR, NCAA Division I members have adopted impactful academic reforms and initiatives, including modifications of initial-eligibility requirements and progress-toward-degree standards as well as application of the Academic Performance Program. Those reforms have helped pave the way for exponential graduation success.
A total of 11 programs for Duquesne earned a GSR at or above the NCAA Division I national average of 91 percent. In addition to the perfect scores for eight programs, women's soccer posted a 96 percent GSR, men's cross country and track & field earned a 95 percent and women's cross country and track & field finished at 94 percent.
