Jimmy Clark III scored 404 points in his first season at Duquesne last season and owns 646 career points entering Wednesday's game at Marshall. Clark III also needs 55 steals to crack the top 10 in program history for thefts, as Andy Sisinni (1981-84) currently ranks 10th with 148.

Scouting the Thundering Herd – A member of the Sun Belt, Wednesday's game marks the ninth in the all-time series between Duquesne and Marshall, with the two teams having split the previous eight meetings. The Thundering Herd have won three consecutive games over the Dukes after an 82-71 win last season at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. Guard

Keith Dambrot owns an overall record of 8-3 (.727) against Marshall, including a perfect 7-0 mark at Akron. The Thundering Herd were picked seventh in the 2023 Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll and are led by Dan D'Antoni (Marshall '70), who as a student-athlete helped lead the Thundering Herd to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) in both 1967 and 1968.Â

Head Coach Keith Dambrot (Seventh Year at Duquesne | 26th Year Overall) – Keith Dambrot, who built Akron into one of the most successful - and most respected - programs in the Mid-American Conference over 13 seasons, was named head men's basketball coach at Duquesne University on March 28, 2017. The veteran coach wasted no time making an impact on the DU program with 65 wins in his first four seasons. His 96 wins already rank fifth on the Dukes' all-time victory list and his two 20-win seasons - in just six years - are tied for the third-most in program history. Dambrot reached a significant career milestone on Feb. 8, 2023 when he posted his 500th career victory with a 75-52 triumph over George Mason.

UC Irvine Leftovers – Duquesne has faced UC Irvine twice in the last three seasons, winning both meetings ... Each team owned an 11-point advantage, with the Anteaters grabbing a 27-16 lead in the first half and the Dukes leading, 61-50, with 4:11 to play ... UC Irvine shot 40.7 percent (22-for-54) from the field, finishing 11-for-27 from the floor in each half ... Duquesne shot 41.4 percent (24-for-58), including 50 percent (9-for-18) from beyond the arc ... Five different Dukes connected for a three-pointer ... Post-It Notes – Duquesne received a big boost from its forwards in a 66-62 victory, as
Andrei Savrasov and
David Dixon combined for 27 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks in the win. It marked season highs in scoring for each of the duo, who combined to shoot 57.8 percent (11-for-19) from the floor in the victory. Savrasov, in addition to his first dunk of the 2023-24 season, also showed his touch from outside, knocking down three of his four attempts from beyond the arc.

Concentration – Senior guard
Dae Dae Grant has proven to be adept at the free-throw line during his career, and those numbers have only been amplified in his two seasons at Duquesne. En route to a season-high 24 points at Nebraska, Grant finished 9-for-9 at the charity stripe. He has now converted each of his last 34 attempts at the chalk since the 2023-24 season opener against Cleveland State, when he finished 8-for-11. The school record for the Dukes for consecutive free throws made is owned by Dave Ricketts (1954-57), who converted 42 straight during the 1956-57 season. In two seasons at Duquesne, Grant has converted 88.9 percent (128-for-144) of his attempts at the free-throw line. The career school record for free-throw percentage is owned by Rick Suder, who shot 87.7 percent (342-for-390) at the stripe from 1983 to 1986.  Â

At The Rim – Duquesne has opened the 2023-24 season doing a terrific job of protecting the rim, as the Dukes have blocked 41 shots in seven games, an average of 5.86 per contest that is tops in the Atlantic 10. Forward
David Dixon paces Duquesne individually with 17 rejections in seven games, while forward
Halil Barre has tallied eight blocks on the year. Dixon, who ranks second in the A-10 with an average of 2.42 blocks per game, owns at least one block in each of Duquesne's seven tilts this season and tied a career-high with five rejections in a 66-62 win over UC Irvine. In 34 career contests, Dixon owns 41 blocks, an average of 1.21 per game.

Dae Dae Grant, who has hit at least one three-pointer in 15 consecutive games dating back to last season, has drained 113 triples in 40 career games at Duquesne, an average of 2.83 per contest. Grant is 21 three-pointers shy of cracking the top 10 in program history in the category, as former guard Jimmy Tricco (2002-04) sits 10th in three-point field goals with 134.
