BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - Duquesne quarterback
Darius Perrantes and linebacker
Gianni Rizzo have been named Northeast Conference Prime Performers for Week 11, announced by the league office this afternoon.
Perrantes, a junior from Los Angeles, Calif., threw for a season-high 298 yards with one passing touchdown as well as a 34-yard rushing score. He totaled an NEC-best 327 yards of offense on Saturday against Stonehill. All nine of his completions went for 10+ yards for an average of 33.1 yards, including an 89-yard touchdown to
Keshawn Brown. The 89-yard pass and the 34-yard run were both career longs.
Perrantes now has 18 touchdown passes on the season, at least six more than any other NEC quarterback.
Rizzo racked up career highs in tackles (11), sacks (1.5), and tackles for loss (2.5). The 1.5 sacks and 2.5 TFLs were the most by any NEC defender for the week, while 11 tackles ranked second-most. The North Huntingdon, Pa. product leads the Dukes and is fourth in the NEC with 8.5 TFLs on the season.
Duquesne travels to Merrimack on Saturday for its regular season finale at 12 pm. The winner of the game will secure the Northeast Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I FCS Championship.
