Women's Soccer Bows Out of A-10 Championship in Semifinals

ST. LOUIS -- The Duquesne University women's soccer season came to an end on Wednesday night, falling 5-0 to top-seeded Saint Louis in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship tournament at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

Duquesne's defense stood strong to start the game featuring clears from Lindsey Krafchick and Anna Campanella to keep the game at a standstill for the first 20 minutes.

The game changed as SLU fired a long shot from 20+ yards out that deflected off a Duke and into the net to put the Billikens up 1-0 at the 20:09 mark. Saint Louis took firm control of the match with two more goals in the 37th and 38th minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the break. A direct corner kick bending inside the near post made it 2-0, then a bottom left burner from the top of the box gave SLU its three-goal advantage.

Saint Louis came right out of the half and made it 4-0 less than two minutes in and capped off the scoring in the 75th minute.

Margey Brown and Libby Majka took the first two shots of the game for Duquesne in the 41st and 42nd minutes, both were on frame but swallowed up by the Billiken keeper. The Dukes finished the game with seven shots, six of which on target. Emma Bundy and Maya Matesa each had two shots to lead the team.

Maddy Neundorfer made six saves playing all 90 minutes between the posts for DU.

The Dukes finish the season with an 8-8-4 record, the highest win total since 2017. It was the second straight conference playoff appearance for DU, the first time since 2016-17, and the third-ever semifinal appearance in program history, first since 2017.
