Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University bowling team announced its 2023-24 schedule Monday, which includes nine events as part of the regular season, including three Northeast Conference (NEC) matches.
Under the tutelage of
Jody Fetterhoff, in her eighth season leading the Dukes, Duquesne opens its 2023-24 slate by taking part in the Penguin Classic Friday, Oct. 13, through Sunday, Oct. 15, in Struthers, Ohio. The event, hosted by Youngstown State, will take place at Holiday Bowl.
DU, which earned its second bid in program history to the NCAA Championships in 2023 and finished last season ranked 12th in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Top 25, heads to Orlando, Fla., for its second event with the Sunshine State Classic (Oct. 27-29) at AMF Sky Lanes.
The first of three NEC matches is set for Nov. 11-12 in New Brunswick, N.J., at Bowlero North Brunswick. Also on the 2023-24 schedule for the Dukes is the Hawk Classic (Nov. 17-19), the Stormin Blue & White Vegas Classic (Jan. 8-10), the Red Flash Invitational (Jan. 26-28) and the Stallings Invitational (Feb. 23-25).
The second and third NEC competitions, respectively, are set for Saturday, Dec. 2, and Sunday, Dec. 3, as well as Saturday, Feb. 17, and Sunday, Feb. 18.
The Dukes return five student-athletes that earned All-NEC honors last year, including graduate student
Kiearra Saldi and senior
Shannon Small, who each were named to the 2023 All-NEC First Team. Small ranks second in program history with a career average of 200.7, while Saldi ranks third at 200.6.
Duquesne concluded the 2022-23 campaign with an overall record of 70-34 (.673), including a mark of 17-4 (.810) in the NEC to earn a share of the regular-season championship.
