RICHMOND, VA. - In a tail of two halves, it was Richmond (9-7, 2-1) who scored last, getting a 3-pointer from Jason Roche with :07 left to defeat Duquesne (12-5, 2-2), 75-73, on Saturday night before a sellout crowd at UR's Robins Center.
R.J. Gunn led five Dukes in double figures with a season-high 16 points.
Jimmy Clark III had 12,
Joe Reece and
David Dixon scored 11 each and
Tevin Brewer scored 10 for DU which went 10-of-18 from 3-point in the first half and 1-of-13 from the arc in the second.
Roche hit a 3-pointer from the left wing after Richmond's Tyler Burton, who scored a game-high 23, nearly turned it over in the lane.
Brewer's driving layup attempt rolled off the rim at the final horn.
Duquesne trailed 14-13 before hitting 12-straight shots - including nine-straight 3-pointers from six players - in going on a sizzling 34-11 run to take a 47-25 lead.
Gunn, who hit three '3's' during the run, opened the stretch with a 3-pointer, Clark III added another, before Matus Hronsky hit a baseline jumper then converted a four-point play to make it 25-18.
Brewer's 3-pointer made it a 10-point game and Gunn added two more 3-pointers to make it 37-20.
Richmond closed the half with a 9-2 run to cut it to 49-34.
Duquesne opened the second half 1-of-11 as Richmond cut the lead to 51-49 at the 13:28 mark.
Gunn ended a 13-0 UR run with his fourth 3-pointer, this one from the left wing, that made it 54-49.
Richmond, which was in the double bonus just over 10 minutes into the half, took a 57-56 lead, its first since the score was 9-6, on a pair of Isaiah Bigelow free throws at the 9:38 mark.
DU's
David Dixon, who scored all of his 11 points in the second half, tied it at 61-61 on a three-point play.
Richmond scored its next five points from the line to take its largest lead at 66-61.
Dixon pulled Duquesne back with a bucket and a dunk off a pass from Brewer that gave DU a 67-66 lead with just under five minutes to go.
Brewer, who finished with eight assists in 30 turnover-free minutes, hit a floater in the lane to give Duquesne a 73-72 lead prior to Roche's game-winner.
Richmond outscored Duquesne 41-24 in the second half. The Dukes shot 62 percent in the first half and 27 percent in the second.
DU, who had both Clark III and Reece foul out, was outscored 20-8 from the free throw line. Richmond went 20-of-30 from the stripe while the Dukes went 8-of-9.
Duquesne continues a stretch of three-straight road games when it heads to Philadelphia to take on Saint Joseph's on Wed., Jan. 11 at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+).

- R.J. Gunn, who was making his second career start, scored a season-high 16 points. The grad transfer went 4-of-8 from the 3-point arc in eclipsing his previous Duquesne high of 13 points set Wednesday vs VCU.
- David Dixon scored all of his 11 points in the second half. It was his third double-digit game of the season and first since he scored 12 vs. UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 29.
- The Dukes got 3's from R.J. Gunn, Jimmy Clark III, Matus Hronsky, Tevin Brewer, Gunn Jr., Gunn Jr., Joe Reece, Brewer and Dae Dae Grant in a span of 7:27 during their first half run that featured 12 makes in a row.
- Duquesne was without injured forward Tre Williams who had started DU's previous 16 games.
- This was the second time in the past six games that the Dukes had five double digit scorers.
- Duquesne's largest lead was 22, at 47-25, with 3:45 left in the first half ... Richmond's largest lead was five, at 66-61, with 5:45 left ... there were six ties and 11 lead changes in the game ...
