WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Dukes scored twice in the final minute of the game to escape George Washington with a 15-14 come-from-behind victory Saturday afternoon.

Duquesne (6-9, 3-5 A-10) entered the fourth quarter trailing GW (4-12, 2-6 A-10) 12-9 and later fell behind 14-10 with 10:11 left in the contest. The Dukes rallied with a pair of goals to cut the deficit down to 14-13 with 6:46 remaining in the game.

After six minutes of scoreless play, freshman
Delaney Rodriguez-Shaw (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) tied the contest up at 14-14 with 40 seconds left in the game. She then went on to win the ensuing draw control, leading to
Sam King's (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) game-winning goal with just 25 seconds remaining on the clock to clinch the victory.

Rodriguez-Shaw led all Dukes with four points, including three goals and an assist. King,
Alana Piano (Brockport, N.Y./Aquinas) and
Mackenzie Leszczynski (Flourtown, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) all finished with three goals.Â

The Dukes opened up a 5-2 lead through the 11:16-mark of the first quarter. GW answered back to tie the game at 6-6 with just under five minutes to play in the first half, before a King goal made the score 7-6 at halftime.

Duquesne led 8-7 in the third quarter with 12:16 on the clock when GW went on a 5-2 run to carry its 12-9 lead into the fourth quarter prior to the Dukes' rally.

Duquesne out-shot the Colonials 43 to 33, but only managed a 28 to 25 edge in shots on-goal.

The Dukes will close out the regular-season on Saturday, April 16 when it travels to western New York to take on St. Bonaventure at 12 p.m.
