Dukes and Hawks Battle to Scoreless Tie

DU's Nascimben notches sixth shutout of the season

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne (7-1-3, 2-0-2) extended its home unbeaten streak to 12 (10-0-2, 3-0-1 this year) in a 0-0 draw with Saint Joseph's (2-4-5, 1-1-2) on Wednesday night on Rooney Field.

The Dukes, playing their first home game since Sept. 17, shook off a sluggish first half to outshoot the Hawks 9-5 over the final 45 minutes, but could not find the back of the net.

It was the fifth tie of the season for Saint Joe's, which had a 15-14 edge in shots on the evening.

DU keeper Domenic Nascimben had four saves - all in the first half - in recording his sixth shutout of the season.

Ask Ekeland and Maxi Hopfer led DU with three and two shots respectively.

Duquesne heads to Fairfax, Va. to face George Mason on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1:00 p.m. (ESPN+).

  • SJU's James Fletcher caused a turnover and put a shot on net in the 34th minute.

  • Snowden had a hard shot deflected wide right in the 88th minute. DU was unable to capitalize on the ensuing corner.

DUQUESNE HEAD COACH CHASE BROOKS
"It was a tail of two 45's. The first half we didn't quite show up to play and in the second 45 we were able to solve a few problems and create some headaches. Ultimately its a great learning moment for this group moving forward."
