STRUTHERS, OHIO – No. 13 Duquesne posted a 194.4 average in 71 games in finishing fourth in a 14-team field - which featured eight ranked teams and four others who received votes in the NTCA preseason Top 25 - at the MOTIV Penguin Classic in Struthers, Ohio over the weekend.

Individually, Kiearra Saldi (206.88) and Shannon Small (206.75) placed seventh and eighth respectively. Freshman Emma Siekierski (181.63) and Brenna Gleim (178.13) placed 28th and 29th for the Dukes.

Ranelle Ulanday had a 191.71 average in seven games.

Duquesne went 4-1 in its Friday baker matches with the fivesome of Ulanday, Siekierski, Gleim, Small and Saldi posting a high game of 1082 in a fourth-match win over Aurora. DU's 4,983 pin total and 199.3 average placed it fourth going into Saturday's traditional round.

The Dukes went 3-2 in five traditional matches on Saturday, highlighted by a 1041 pin total in a win over #19 Morgan State.

DU's three Sunday traditional matches were topped by a 1004-986 win over No. 9 Youngstown State.

In Sunday's championship, the fourth-seeded Dukes jumped out to a 2-0 lead - including a 256-194 win in game two - but could not sustain their momentum in dropping a 4-2 decision to No. 6 Arkansas State in a best-of-7 baker match.

Duquesne will be idle until NEC Meet #1, which will be played at Nesbits Lanes in Plum, Pa. on Nov. 12-13. This will be the closest the Dukes will have played to campus since the inception of the program.
