- DU held Pitt without a shot until the Panthers followed a Duquesne yellow card with a shot that was punched away by Domenic Nascimben in the 16th minute.
- Pitt found the back of the net one minute later when Bertin Jacquesson took a pass from Valentin Noel deep in the box and converted.
- Pitt went up 2-0 when Veljko Petkovic corralled a header that ricocheted off the crossbar in the 23rd minute.

- Zach Mowka recorded the Dukes' second shot shortly afterward, setting up a second corner.
