Second Half Surge Lifts Hawks to 12-10 Win over Dukes

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Rilee Bradshaw and Maddie Hart netted four goals apiece, but Saint Joseph's outscored Duquesne 9-4 in the second half in a 12-10 triumph over the visiting Dukes on Saturday afternoon at Sweeney Field. Duquesne moves to 2-2 on the season and 1-2 in Atlantic 10 action while the Hawks boost their records to 6-4 and 3-0, respectively.

Bradshaw's second goal of the day marked her 100th career goal for the Dukes, becoming the second Duquesne player to achieve that mark this season after Hart notched her 100th career goal in the season opener against Kent State.

The Dukes jumped out to a 4-1 lead with a pair of scores by Hart, one by Carlee Braverman and one by Rilee Bradshaw just over midway through the first half.

Duquesne pushed its lead to 6-3 heading to halftime as Hart and Bradshaw each found the back of the net one more time in the final eight minutes of the frame.

Saint Joseph's would come out firing in the second stanza, scoring seven straight goals to gain a 10-6 edge.

Jillian Caroselli found Bradshaw for a goal to end the Hawks' run, but Saint Joe's would respond with two more goals to extend its lead to 12-7.

Duquesne battled back as Hart scored off the assist by Julianna Hamilton followed by a goal by Caroselli and one more by Hart, but the Hawks were able to preserve their two-goal advantage for the final seven minutes of action.

The Hawks held a slim 25-24 shooting edge while shots on goal were an even 20-20 in the contest.

Hart finished with a game-high 10 draw controls, marking her seventh career game with at least 10 draw controls. She added a team-high five ground balls and three caused turnovers, as well.

Rachel O'Toole started in goal for the Dukes, making six saves on the day while Mady Pierselak made a pair of saves in the second half of action for Duquesne.
