Dukes Fall at La Salle in Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Duquesne lacrosse team dropped a 20-14 decision at La Salle in the 2021 season finale on Sunday at McCarthy Stadium. The Dukes close the year with a 4-5 overall record and a 3-5 ledger in Atlantic 10 play. 

Trailing 11-8 at the half, Duquesne scored three of the first four goals of the second stanza to shrink the Explorers' lead to 12-11 with just over 25 minutes remaining. Maddie Hart netted the first two goals for the Dukes, followed by a goal by Alana Piano

La Salle responded with two consecutive goals to build its advantage to 14-11, before Rilee Bradshaw found the back of the net twice to bring Duquesne within one at 14-13. 

Bradshaw finished with a team-high four goals to go with a game-high 11 draw controls. Piano added three goals and an assist while Hart and Jillian Caroselli each notched hat tricks for the Dukes. Carlee Braverman had a goal and dished out a pair of assists on the day, as well. 

Duquesne jumped out to a 4-2 lead with a pair of goals by Piano just over six minutes into the contest. After the Explorers countered with two goals of their own, Hart and Bradshaw each netted goals to put the Dukes on top, 6-4. La Salle closed out the half on a 7-2 run to gain the 11-8 edge at the break. 

Hart caps her career as the program's all-time leader with 314 draw controls. She also sits third in program history with 116 draw controls and sixth with 154 ground balls. The Sykesville, Md. native also netted 121 career goals and dished out 29 assists. 

Bradshaw finished 10th in program history with 130 career draw controls while netting 120 career goals.
