PITTSBURGH - Duquesne (1-4, 1-4 A10) hit a season-high .252 in rolling to a dominating straight-set win (25-17, 25-12, 29-27) over visiting Davidson (2-7, 1-6) on Saturday night at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
Summer Slade led a balanced Dukes attack with 11 kills.
Anita Parrott finished with nine kills and a match-high six blocks.
Camryn Thomas and
Maria Mosbacher were right behind Parrott with eight kills each. Thomas hit a team-high .429.
Hailey Poling had a match-high 36 assists for DU.
Ashley Larson paced Duquesne with 18 digs.
Duquesne looks to build on its victory when it heads to Richmond for back-to-back matches at VCU on Sunday, Mar. 14 and Monday, Mar. 15 (both on ESPN+). Sunday's match is set for 6:00 p.m. with Monday's set for a 2:00 p.m. start.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duquesne jumped out to a 3-0 lead behind the serve of Camryn Thomas and took a 5-1 lead on a block by Anita Parrott. Back-to-back kills by Parrott and Maria Mosbacher made it 8-3. The Dukes rode the momentum to a 10-4 lead, forcing a Davidson timeout. DU scored the next three points out of the break on Ashley Larson's serve to go up 13-4. A Thomas kill made it 16-5, prompting another Davidson timeout. The Wildcats briefly rallied to cut it to 23-16, before Duquesne called a timeout. Parrott followed with a kill and DU closed it out on Thomas' seventh kill. DU hit .389 and never trailed in the opening set.

- The Dukes started set two much like the first, taking an 11-4 lead before Davidson called timeout after back-to-back service aces by Larson. DU made it seven-straight points in going up 13-4 on a Mosbacher kill. DU called its first timeout up 16-6. The Dukes upped the lead to 20-8 on a Thomas ace and led 23-10 after kills by Parrott and Slade. DU put the set away on a Davidson attack error following long rally. DU hit .258 with a .355 kill percentage in the set.

- Davidson took its first lead since 1-0 in set two in opening set three with a three-point run. DU took its first lead at 8-7 on Slade's eighth kill. The Wildcats went up 10-8 before Duquesne called its first timeout. Davidson led 12-9 before kills by Poling, Parrott and Slade tied it at 12-12. Neither team led by more than one before Davidson took an 18-16 lead on Remi Lehnertz's 10th kill. DU called its second timeout when the Wildcats matched their largest lead at 19-16. A Poling kill cut it to 22-21 and Thomas' second service ace of the evening tied it at 22-22. Slade's 11th kill made it 23-22, and a big block by Parrott tied it at 24-24. DU was down one before a Morgan Kelly kill and a solo block by Parrott put the Dukes up 26-25, forcing a Davidson timeout. The Wildcats took a one-point lead before Parrott put one away to tie it at 27-27. A Mosbacher block and Davidson attack error gave the Dukes the sweep. There were 12 ties and nine lead changes in what was the most competitive set of the match.
