CHICAGO - DePaul (7-1) outshot Duquesne (3-7) .636 to .400 in the second half to break open a tight game and defeat the Dukes, 87-67, at Wintrust Arena in Chicago on Tuesday night.
Tre Williams posted a 17-10 double-double and added four blocks and three assists to lead four Dukes in double figures.
Leon Ayers III had 13 points,
Kevin Easley Jr. scored 12 and
Jackie Johnson III added 11 off the bench for DU.
DePaul took its largest lead at 52-44, before
Tyson Acuff answered with a 3-pointer and jumper to cut the lead to three.
DU then missed 10 of 11 shots as the Blue Demons put together a 14-3 run to build their lead to 66-52, forcing a DU timeout.
DePaul, which went 5-of-9 from the arc in the second half, hit back-to-back 3-pointers to up the lead to 79-56.
The Blue Demons, which shot .530 for the game, outscored the Dukes 51-37 in the second half.
Duquesne shot .406, including 6-of-19 from 3-point (4-of-15 in the second half).
There were four ties and eight lead changes in the first half, before DePaul found its range from long distance, hitting four 3-pointers over the last 3:46 to take a 36-30 lead.
DU, behind buckets from Ayers III and Williams, pulled two within one twice in the early moments of the second half, but could get no closer.
Duquesne returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 11 when it hosts New Hampshire at 1:00 p.m. at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse (ESPN+). The men's game will be followed by the Duquesne women versus Saint Francis U at 5:00 p.m.

- Williams' 17-10 double-double was the third of his career and second as a Duke. The first-year Indiana State transfer went 8-of-12 from the field.
- Jackie Johnson III came off the bench to score 11 points in 19 minutes. It was his third double-digit game of the season.
- Duquesne's largest lead four at 18-14 with 8:04 left in the first half ... DePaul's largest lead was 24, the last of which came at 87-63 with 1:05 left ... there were four ties and eight lead changes before Philmon Gebrewhit gave DePaul the lead for good on a 3-pointer that made it 25-23 with 3:36 left in the first half ... DePaul led for 32:05 ... Duquesne led for 4:29.
