PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne swimming and diving team returns to action this weekend at the Atlantic 10 Classic at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The Dukes are set to battle George Mason, Oakland and Saint Bonaventure at the meet hosted at the site of the conference championship.Ā
The Dukes are slated to compete as a team for the second time this season, following a pair of dual meet victories over James Madison and Saint Francis U at Towers Pool last weekend.Ā
Graduate transfer Mendy de Rooi recorded four of Duquesne's 13 first-place finishes in the win over JMU, pacing the 50 free (23.99),Ā 100 free (52.41),Ā 100 fly (56.22) as well as the 400 medley relayĀ (3:51.47). De Rooi followed that up with wins in theĀ 200 medley relayĀ (1:48.56) andĀ 200 free relay (1:38.07) against the Red Flash on Saturday.Ā
Freshman
Orla Egan postedĀ a pair of first-place finishesĀ in theĀ 500 free (5:05.49) and the 1000 free (10:25.92) in the victory over the Dukes before winning the 400 IM (4:34.60) vs. SFU.Ā
Katelyn HarkraderĀ paced theĀ 100 back (59.34),Ā 200 back (2:07.62) and 200 medley relayĀ (1:48.56) for Duquesne in the win over the Red Flash.Ā
On the diving side,
Sidney O'Donnell achieved an NCAA Zone cut score on the 1-meter boards atĀ 283.43 in the win over James Madison at Carnegie Mellon. Finishing second in the event, the junior had already bested her own school record and posted an NCAA Zone cut on the 3-meter boards in the Dukes' season-opener earlier this season against Pitt at Trees Pool. She tacked on a third-place mark on the 3-meter boards (267.38) against the Dukes of James Madison.Ā
