ERIE, PA – Eleventh-ranked Duquesne (18-5) went 9-1 in dominating the Mercyhurst University Invite in Erie, Pa. over the weekend. The Dukes won their final eight matches (three traditional and five baker) in finishing first in the eight-team field.

The event consisted of five traditional matches on Saturday, followed by five baker matches on Sunday.

Duquesne's 200.5 average in 50 games was nearly 10 pins/g. better than second place Wilmington University. The Dukes had a 50-game total of 10,023 pins - 478 more than Wilmington.

Olivia Farwell (2nd at 212.4), Kiearra Saldi (3rd at 208.8) and Jessica Sacks (T5th with a four-game average of 212.0) were all named to the All-Tournament Team. Jessica Cadez finished sixth with 199.0 average.

The Dukes opened slow in traditional play with an 839-812 win over Wilmington. Cadez was the lone DU bowler over 180 with a 193. Duquesne dropped a match to Medaille before finding its stride in a 1061-836 win over Daemen. Saldi led the way with her weekend-best score of 246 as all five DU bowlers rolled over 180.

The Dukes rode that momentum to a 979-836 win over D'Youville as Farwell (213), Saldi (212) and Cadez (211) led the way.

Sacks rolled a career-best 276 - the top game by any bowler on the weekend - in leading the Dukes to a 1105-895 victory over host Mercyhurst in the final Saturday match. In all, four bowlers - Sacks, Saldi (216), Farwell (214) and Cadez (213) - topped 200 as DU posted its high traditional total of the weekend.

Duquesne topped 1000 pins in two of its five Sunday baker matches, with the fivesome of Saldi, Shannon Small, Cadez, Sacks and Farwell - which bowled all five Sunday matches - combining for a high of 1193 in match one vs. Robert Wesleyan.

DU will be idle until NEC Meet #1 on Nov. 6-7 at Bowlero North Brunswick Lanes in North Brunswick, N.J.
