The Duquesne University Department of Athletics supports 17 programs which compete in both the Atlantic 10 and Northeast Conferences.
 
Focused on the four pillars of Academics, Competitive Success, Integrity and Programmatic & Community Engagement, the Department of Athletics is committed to providing its 400-plus student-athletes with a first-class, Division I experience.
 
A charter member of the Atlantic 10, Duquesne competes in 15 of the conference's sports including men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, men's outdoor track and field, women's indoor and outdoor track and field, women's lacrosse, women's rowing, women's swimming and diving and women's volleyball.
 
Through 2019-20, DU has produced 125 individual and eight team Atlantic 10 champions.
 
Duquesne's Football Championship Subdivision football team, as well as the women's bowling program, complete in the Northeast Conference. The football program has won five NEC titles and made a pair of FCS Championship appearances in 12 seasons as a conference member, while the bowling program – in just its fourth season of existence – finished the 2019-20 season ranked eighth nationally.
 
In addition to competitive success, Duquesne student-athletes have earned Academic All-America honors a total of 59 times in 11 sports.
