@DuqLax Matches Program Single-Game Goal Record in 25-2 Win over Akron

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne matched a school record with 25 goals as thirteen different players found the back of the net in a 25-2 victory over visiting Akron on Wednesday afternoon at Arthur J. Rooney Field.

The Dukes (3-3) recorded their most goals in a game since a program record-setting 25-8 victory over St. Bonaventure on April 1, 2016.

Duquesne not only had a historic day on the offensive end, but defender Sydney Reed registered a pair of single-game school records in the victory with 10 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.

Michaela Connolly and Maddie Hart netted six goals apiece to pace Duquesne, as the Dukes scored at least 20 goals for the seventh time under second-year head coach Corinne Desrosiers.

Reed bested the previous school record of nine ground balls set by Liz Walker on April 1, 2011 at Richmond and March 16, 2008 at Cincinnati in addition to Jessica McGarry and Silvana Restrepo on March 23, 1997 vs. Siena.

Reed also topped the previous record of eight caused turnovers set by Amanda Kidder twice against Robert Morris on Feb. 18, 2015 and Marquette on March 7, 2014 as well as Krista Mann against La Salle on April 7, 2006. Reed's nine caused turnovers were also the second-highest total in Division I this season, trailing just Sacred Heart's Elizabeth Small by one.

Rilee Bradshaw had two goals and a pair of assists while Carlee Braverman registered two goals and an assist for Duquesne.

Elizabeth Petrosky posted a goal and a trio of assists, and Kirsten Barnes netted a goal with a pair of assists in the triumph.

Joslin Hanbury and Pearl Rosemond each found the back of the net for the first time in their collegiate careers for the Dukes.

Reed, Julianna Hamilton, Megan Konieczny, Samantha Cirino and Tina St. Clair each netted goals while Camryn Sack dished out two assists for the Duquesne, as well.

The Dukes' 25 goals are tied for the third-most in Division I this season, just behind Northwestern's 30- and 28-goal outputs.

Duquesne put 44 of 55 shots on goal and held advantages of 38-9 in ground balls and 17-11 in draw controls.

The Dukes caused 28 Zips turnovers in the victory.

Hart had seven draw controls to pace Duquesne, while Bradshaw tallied three caused turnovers, three ground balls and a pair of draw controls. Connolly chipped in four ground balls for the Dukes.

Maddy Curtis picked up her 13th win in the cage for Duquesne, moving her into a tie for the eighth-most wins in program history with Sarah Beckstead (2007-10).
