WASHINGTON, D.C. -
Sincere Carry scored all 11 of his points in the second half, including a big 3-pointer with 2:05 left, to help the Duquesne (14-2, 4-0) remain undefeated in Atlantic 10 Conference play with a 66-61 win at George Washington (6-10, 0-3).
The Dukes, who have matched the second-best A-10 start in program history, held the Colonials scoreless over the final 2:27 to secure their 14th win in 16 games - the best start by a DU team since 1971-72 (15-2).
Marcus Weathers posted a 13-10 double-double and
Michael Hughes added 12 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in helping DU it its fifth consecutive series win. It is the first time in series history that Duquesne won three in a row at GW's Smith Center.
Tavian Dunn-Martin came of the bench to score 12 points on four 3-pointers, and hand out a team-high four assists, for the Dukes.
GW took a 61-60 lead on a Jameer Nelson Jr. dunk, before Carry's 3-pointer put the Dukes on top for good.
Weathers hit a free throw and Carry added two more from the stripe to close out the win.
Duquesne was up 30-19 with under three minutes left in the first half, when GW's Jamison Battle - who finished with a game-high 20 points - caught fire, scoring 11 in the final 2:30 to fuel a 13-2 Colonials run.
Battle's 3-pointer from the corner tied it at 32-32 at the first half horn.
Battle, who went 6-of-15 from the arc, hit his fifth 3-pointer to give GW its first lead at 35-34 early in the second half.
The Dukes took a 39-37 lead on a Weathers jumper and held the lead until Nelson Jr., who finished with 14 points, tied it at 54-54 on a free throw with 4:44 left.
The lead changed hands five times before Carry's 3-pointer from the top of the key.
Duquesne, in the midst of a stretch of four-of-five on the road, returns to Pittsburgh to host Fordham on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 7:00 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena (ESPN+). The Dukes then return to the road to face Rhode Island (Jan. 22) and UMass (Jan. 25).

- DU's 14-2 start is the school's best since 1971-72 (15-2).
- The 4-0 start is Duquesne's second-best in 43 Atlantic 10 seasons, second-only to an 8-0 start in 2010-11.
- This is the first time Duquesne has posted three consecutive wins at George Washington. DU's five-game series win streak has matched its longest in series history (last accomplished in 1989 & 1990).
- Weathers' 13-10 double-double was his third of the season and ninth of his career.
- Carry finished with a career high eight rebounds.
- Hughes, who entered the game ranked 10th nationally with 3.1 blocks per game, finished with four rejections.
- George Washington's largest lead was three at 37-34 with 17:40 left ... Duquesne's largest lead was 11, the last of which came at 30-19 with 2:31 left in the first half ... there were five ties and nine lead changes before Duquesne took the lead for good on Sincere Carry's 3-pointer with 2:05 left ... Duquesne led for 33:09 ... GW led for 2:56.
