Dukes finish 3-5 in A-10 regular season play

Davidson scored three times in the opening 14 minutes of the second half to turn a 2-0 lead to a five-goal bulge in defeating Duquesne, 5-0, before a Senior Day crowd at Alumni Stadium in Davidson, N.C. The Wildcats, who entered the game with 11 goals in 15 games, got two goals each from Justin Stone and Lucas Hauth in becoming the first team to score more than two goals against the Dukes this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jamie Diluzio opened the scoring with a penalty kick goal in the 17th minute.
  • Hauth added goal number two in the 24th minute to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead at the break.
  • Hauth's goal in the opening minute of the second half, ignited Davidson which followed with goals from Stone in the 57th and 59th minutes.
  • Sophomore Domenic Nascimben made his first appearance in goal for DU in place of senior Robbie McKelvey who had started the 16 previous matches. Senior Scott Rissler made his first appearance of the season in net for the final 20 minutes.
  • Davidson outshot Duquesne 19-12, including 8-2 on goal.
  • The Wildcats had seven corners to one for the Dukes.
  • Noah Raphael came off the bench to lead DU with four shots, incuding both shots on goal, in 44 minutes.

     "We knew Davidson would come out with a lot of energy being that it was their senior night. We also knew we had to match their energy and we didn't in the first 45 minutes. At halftime, I decided to make a tactical change and ultimately that did not work for us and we have to own that as well. From the head coach, all the way down the roster, we have to own this result."
