PITTSBURGH – After 27 days and 10 consecutive matches on the road, the Duquesne volleyball team (6-9, 0-2 A10) returns home to host George Washington on Friday night (7-7, 1-0 A10) and George Mason (4-9, 0-1 A10) on Sunday afternoon at Mt. Lebanon High School.
Friday's match against the Colonels will have 7:00 p.m. start, while Sunday's contest against the Patriots will begin at 1:00 p.m. Live stats are available for both matches. Friday's contest against George Washington will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
The Dukes hosted Green Bay in the first-ever volleyball match at PPG Paints Arena in its lone home match of the season to date at the ChampYinz Invitational on Sept. 6. The Dukes will play its final seven home matches at Mt. Lebanon High School.
THE SERIES
- George Washington leads the all-time series over the Dukes by a 36-18 mark, but the Dukes have won three of the last four matchups, including a 3-2 victory last season, when the Dukes rallied down 2-0 to win three consecutive sets at the Palumbo Center. Â Â
- George Mason holds a slim 7-6 lead in the all-time series, but the Dukes have earned wins in six of the last eight meetings. The Patriots came out on top in a five-set thriller at the Palumbo Center a season ago.
QUICK HITS
- The Dukes seek their first A-10 win of the season this weekend, as they dropped matches to Davidson (3-1) and VCU (3-0) last week.
- Liz Wayne continues to impress in her senior season, posting an efficient .357 hitting percentage on the season - which ranks second best in the A-10. If the season were to end today, Wayne's hitting percentage would rank fourth-best in program history. The Colorado Springs native's currently ranked 80th nationally in the category.
- Wayne (2.63 kills/set), along with Summer Slade (2.96 kills/set) and Maria Mosbacher (2.66 kills/set) have paced the Dukes' offense this season. Â
- Slade looks to become the first Duke to average two-plus kills per set and three-plus digs per set in a single season since Molly Davet accomplished the feat in 2016. Â Slade ranks second on the team with 3.02 digs per set through 15 matches.
- George Washington ranks 42nd nationally in aces per set and 47th in blocks per set.
- George Mason is also a top-100 in blocks per set, averaging 2.33 blocks per game, which ranks 74th in the country. Â
