The Duquesne volleyball team earned its first victory of the season after defeating Lafayette 3-0 on Sunday afternoon (25-19, 25-14, 26-24). Maria Mosbacher led the Dukes with 13 kills while hitting .385. Dani Suiter recorded 23 assists and Camryn Vecera had 10 digs.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The first set had nine ties – the last at 16-16 - before a serving error by Lafayette started a 12-3 run ending with a Mosbacher kill to win the set
• Duquesne led the second set from start-to-finish, hitting .364 with 14 kills and four blocks
• With the third set tied at 24-24 and Lafayette serving, the Dukes got the side out on a serving error before Mosbacher finished off the set with a kill
• Kori Johnson hit .556 and had a pair of blocks
• Duquesne had 10 aces, three from Maddie Bazelak, two from Liz Wayne and Clair Boe and one each from Suiter, Ego Ono and Erin Cunningham
• This was the first time the Dukes and Leopards met
