PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Duquesne rowing team capped the 2017-18 campaign at the 80th Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia on Friday and Saturday.

The Dad Vail Regatta, which is the largest collegiate regatta in North America featuring teams from over 100 colleges and universities in the United States and Canada, was the last collegiate meet for Duquesne seniors Serena Benages (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley), Mary Katherine Byrne (Dunwoody, Ga./Marist), Faith Caldiero (Buffalo, N.Y./Nardin Academy), Olivia Delaney (Cloucester City, N.J./Cloucester City), Caroline Dirr (Buffalo, N.Y./Mount Saint Mary Academy), Samantha Dunn (Lake City, Pa./Girard), Jessica Goldstein (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny), Cassandra Holder (Greenville, Pa./Greenville) and Antonia Maffia (Egg Harbor, N.J./Egg Harbor).

The Dukes varsity eight placed fourth in the second final ahead of Atlantic 10 foe George Mason to close out the weekend for DU. This came after the varsity eight finished 10th in the time trials with a mark of 6:27.628, ahead of eight teams including Army and Ohio State. George Mason bested the Dukes in the time trial, but Duquesne would move on to defeat the Patriots in both the semifinals and finals.

The DU varsity four began the event with a 14th-place mark out of 29 teams in the time trial, crossing the finish line in 7:20.980 before eventually placing second in the third finals in front of another A-10 opponent in Fordham.

Duquesne's second varsity eight posted a fifth-place showing in the finals in front of Purdue following a 10th-place mark in the heat.
