RICHMOND, Va. - In a battle of the last two Atlantic 10 champions, Duquesne fell by a score of 167-132 to Richmond on the second day of the Richmond Duals on Saturday at SwimRVA and the Robins Center Natatorium.

The Dukes, who were competing in their third dual meet in three days, move to 2-2 on the season in dual action on the season. The host Spiders (2-2) had not topped Duquesne in a dual meet since 2015.

The Dukes defeated Richmond in five events on the day.

Adrienne White (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) continued her strong start to her collegiate career, pacing both the 1-meter (257.55) and 3-meter dives (247.95) for the Dukes.

Fellow freshman Audrey Steen (San Pedro, Calif./San Pedro) paced the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 57.87.

Summer Svitavsky (Willoughby, Ohio/Hawken) bested the Spiders in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:53.18 while Emma Brinton (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) won the 400-yard IM at 4:30.56.

Head swimming coach David Sheets: "I was pretty happy with the way the ladies approached the entire meet today.  Short term, adding the extra day of competition was tough, but looking long term this was very beneficial for our swimmers and divers."

Head diving coach Charlie Hauser: "It was a tall order diving 3 days in a row. The ladies stepped up though and got the job done. Everyone improved some aspect of their diving. It was a great opportunity to compete against conference teams and I'm happy with all that we've done this weekend."

The Dukes are back in action with the Atlantic 10 Classic next Saturday, Oct. 27 and Sunday, Oct. 28 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Duquesne posted a 4-0 mark at last year's A-10 Classic, topping George Mason, La Salle, Saint Louis and St. Bonaventure.
