RICHMOND, Va. - The Duquesne swimming and diving team improved to 2-1 on the season in dual meet action with a 184-115 triumph over George Mason on day one of the Richmond Duals on Friday night at SwimRVA and the Robins Center Natatorium.
The Dukes bested the Patriots (1-1) in 11 of 16 events on the night, including four by
Emma Brinton (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) and three by
Abigail Stauffer (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg).
Brinton bested her George Mason counterparts in the 100-yard backstroke (57.87), the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.28), the 100-yard freestyle (52.97) and was part of the winning 400-yard freestlye relay team (3:34.86) with
Carson Gross (York, Pa./York Suburban),
Morgan Smith (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) and
Hanna Everhart (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area).

Audrey Steen (San Pedro, Calif./San Pedro),
Kristen McKnight (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) andÂ
Emily Thirion (Warren, Ohio/Warren)defeated the Patriots in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:46.49.
Stauffer also paced the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.05), the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.42) and finished second behind Steen (2:08.09) in the 200-yard IM (2:08.72).
Adrienne White (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) topped the Patriots in both the 1-meter (253.10) and 3-meter dives (246.65) for Duquesne.
McKnight added a win in the 50-yard freestyle (24.30) the Dukes.
Erin Kuhn (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) paced all George Mason swimmers in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.77) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.89) while
Sophia Perez (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) did the same in the 100-yard backstroke.
Duquesne is now 19-4 in dual meets since the start of the 2016-17 season.

The Dukes are slated to compete in their third dual meet in as many days on Saturday, taking on the host Spiders in the Richmond Duals. This matchup includes the top two finishers at each of the last three Atlantic 10 Championships. The Dukes defeated the Spiders in dual meet action last season by a score of 154-145. Richmond topped Davidson 173-112 on Friday.
