Preview: @DuqSwimDive at James Madison/Richmond Duals

MEET NOTES
  • Duquesne heads south to Virginia for three dual meets over the next three days, traveling to James Madison to battle the Dukes on Thursday at 5 p.m. before taking part in the Richmond Duals on Friday and Saturday.
  • James Madison is 2-0 on the year, defeating Towson (158-142) and Georgetown (211-89) last Saturday. JMU is coming off a Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championship last season. It was the Dukes' eighth title and first conference crown since 2012.
  • James Madison's only dual losses last season came to ACC teams Pittsburgh and Miami.
  • Also participating in the Richmond Duals are the host Spiders, Davidson and George Mason. Richmond comes into the weekend with an 0-2 mark in dual action after falling to Bucknell and Boston last weekend. The Wildcats are also 0-2 following losses to Queens and Georgetown to open the season while the Patriots won their season opener over Delaware.
  • Richmond was picked to finish second in the A-10 Preseason Poll with George Mason seventh and Davidson eighth.
  • Duquesne has finished 2-0 at the Richmond Duals in each of the last two years, as the Dukes topped Davidson (194.50-98.50) and Richmond (154-145) last season.
  • All told, Duquesne was 9-1 in dual meet action last season.
  • The Dukes are coming off a 156-144 win over Youngstown State on the road last Saturday.
  • Sophomore Emma Brinton (Landenburg, Pa./Avon Grove) posted a team-high three event wins, leading the 100-yard freestyle (53.82), 500-yard freestyle (5:11.46) while also helping the Dukes win the 400-yard medley relay (3:56.28).
  • Freshman diver Adrienne White (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week after winning the 3-meter dive in the triumph over the Penguins with a score of 252.43. This came after a second-place mark in the 1-meter (234.98).
NEXT UP
  • The Dukes make the trip to Geneva, Ohio for the A-10 Classic at SPIRE Institute on Oct. 27-28.
  • Also participating in the A-10 Classic is George Mason, La Salle, Saint Louis and St. Bonaventure.
