Dukes make first trip to Fairfax, Va. since 2015

Duquesne (2-7-2, 0-2-1) hits the road for the first of back-to-back Atlantic 10 road games when faces George Mason (4-5, 2-1) on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7:00 p.m. in Fairfax, Va. The Dukes, who are coming off a tough 2-1 overtime loss to Fordham at home on Wednesday, will be taking on a GMU team that posted a 3-0 win at La Salle, also on Wednesday. DU will return home prior to heading west for a game at Saint Louis on Oct. 17.

THE SERIES VS. GEORGE MASON
  • Duquesne leads the series 2-0-2, including a 1-0 mark in games at Mason.
  • This is the first meeting since a 2-2 tie on Rooney Field on Oct. 19, 2016.
  • This is DU's first visit to Fairfax, Va. since posting a 3-1 win on Oct. 21, 2015.
  • Only two members of the current roster have played at George Mason Stadium. Senior Noah Mehta logged 35 minutes off the bench and fellow senior Ian Larson played seven minutes in the 2015 game.
  • Mason is coming off back-to-back road games (a 2-0 loss at UMass and a 3-0 win a La Salle).
  • Duquesne is 0-4 on the road and George Mason is 3-2 at home this season.

  • DU is 0-2-1 Atlantic 10 play with a 2-2 tie vs. Saint Joseph's, a 2-0 loss at VCU and a 2-1 (OT) defeat vs. Fordham. The Dukes have outshot their conference opponents 53-24, including 25-10 on goal, in the three matches.
  • Duquesne tied the Fordham game on a penalty kick by Manel Busquets in the 59th minute, only to fall on a Fordham goal in the 95th. The Dukes outshot the Atlantic 10 preseason favorite 15-8, including 6-4 on goal. Busquets led the Dukes with four shots, including two on frame.
  • Duquesne ranked first nationally in corner kicks per game through Wednesday (currently at 7.36, 81 in 11 games). DU is coming off its first game without a corner this season (vs. Fordham).
  • DU ranks 12th nationally in shots per game (15.9) and 20th in shots on goal per game (6.8).
  • Duquesne has started at least six freshmen in all 11 matches this season (DU has started seven freshmen five times and 12 freshmen have played). Manel Busquets (Spain), Nathan Dossantos (Canada), Rob Dymond (New Zealand), Moritz Kappelsberger (Germany), Domenic Nascimben (Australia), Kendall Newman, Kurtis Orrson, Gylfi Stefansson (Iceland) and Eric Zech (Germany) have all started at least once. Of the nine freshmen who have started, seven are international players.
  • Overall, DU has 10 international players, including returners seniors Noah Mehta (Canada) and Olav Hovstad (Norway).
  • The Dukes have 15 first-year players on the 2018 roster including 14 freshmen and junior Pitt transfer M Alec Anselmo.
  • Busquets leads the Dukes with 11 points on four goals and three assists. His four goals lead the team and his three assists are tied with Noah Mehta for the team lead.
  • Freshman Rob Dymond (3 goals, 1 assist) and Mehta (2 goals, 3 assists) are tied for second of the team with seven points each.

  • Junior Zach Hall (15 points, 6 goals) and senior Ian Larson (16 points, 6 goals) are DU's top current career point-getters and goal scorers.
  • Busquets and Dymond lead the team in shots with 25 and 21 respectively. Busquets and Dymond have sent the most shots on goal with 14 and 10 respectively.
