QUICK RECAP: The Duquesne women's soccer team and Youngstown State ended in a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon on Rooney Field.
The first scoring opportunity for the Dukes came from a free kick by Maddie Layman in the 11th minute resulting in a shot off the right post. Less than a minute later, Malea Fabean's shot was saved by Youngstown State keeper Katie Montgomery.
Abby Losco's shot off the post in the 17th minute was rebounded by Cydney Staton, whose header went high. Youngstown State took the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the 20th minute Youngstown State Kyler Lum put her team on the board with a shot from 25 yards out.
Casey Aunkst's penalty kick in the 48th minute tied the game at 1-1. At the end of regulation the score remained tied 1-1.
Youngstown State had a scoring chances in the 98th minute Murphy from Lum's shot in the 98th minute was saved by Murphy, leading to a rebound shot from Katie Hackos' which was also stopped by Murphy. The game remained tied heading into the second overtime.
A diving save from Montgomery in the 108th minute on an O'Connor shot was the final scoring chance for either team.
COACH ALVINE QUOTE: "We created our share of scoring chances to win the game, but we had a hard time converting. We're going to continue to work hard and get better heading into Friday's match against Longwood."
