BERKELEY, Calif. - All-American forward Kristine Anigwe recorded game-highs 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead California (6-0) to an 86-66 victory over Duquesne in the championship of the Cal Classic on Saturday afternoon.
The Dukes (4-3) were led by Chassidy Omogrosso with 17 points. Amadea Szamosi and Conor Richardson added 12 points each -- a career-high for Richardson. Paige Cannon scored nine points off the bench in 19 minutes. Julijana Vojinovic led the Dukes with a career-best eight rebounds.
Cal, who never trailed, was a forced in the paint, scoring 44 points and shooting 57 percent from the floor.
As a team, the Dukes made a season-high 13 3-pointers, led by Omogrosso who set a career-best with five. The Dukes also committed a season-high 16 turnover, which resulted in 24 Cal points. The Dukes had team season-low with 32 rebounds and eight steals.
FIRST QUARTER
After the teams exchanged baskets, Cal would hold Duquesne without a field goal for the next 4:23. By then, the Golden Bears had a 10-point lead at 13-3. Mo Mosley's jumper gave Cal its largest lead of the quarter, 12 points at 21-9.
SECOND QUARTER
The Bears continued to dominate inside, scoring 16 of their 28 2nd quarter points in the paint. Anigwe's layup at 6:21 put Cal ahead by 18 points as they took a 49-32 lead into halftime. At the break, the Golden Bears were shooting 61 percent to the Dukes' 37 percent and scored 14 points off turnovers to the Dukes' one.
THIRD QUARTER
The Dukes played the Bears even, with each team scoring 20 points. Richardson scored eight points in the quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
Duquesne made four 3-pointers in the half, but could not make a dent in the California lead. C.J. West closed out the scoring with under a minute remaining in the game to make the final score 86-66.
UP NEXT
The Dukes hit the road again for a pair of games beginning with the Atlantic 10 opener on Dec. 1st against Fordham and follow at Ohio University on Dec. 3rd.

- Omogrosso was named to the All-Tournament Team -- she finished the tournament with 19.5 ppg
- She now sites at the top of the A-10 with 15 3-pointers and a 2.1 per game average
