QUICK RECAP: The Duquesne women's soccer team scored three goals in the second half to defeat VCU Sunday afternoon, improving their overall record to 6-3-2.

The win marks the first time since 2010 that Duquesne has started off 2-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

VCU was the first to find the back of the net when Alyssa Tallent's shot beat Kyra Murphy in the 31st minute. The Dukes would post four shots on goal in the first half, but were held scoreless heading into halftime.

Duquesne opened the second half with a game-leveling goal by Malea Fabean in the 46th minute when she connected on a cross from Linnea Faccenda, heading the ball from six yards out.

Four minutes later, a Faccenda one-timer put the Dukes on the board again in the 50th minute, with an assist from Katie O'Connor.

Duquesne went on to record six shots on goal in the second period, and Italia Biondi would add an insurance goal in the 79th minute to lift the Dukes to a 3-1 victory.

With two assists today, O'Connor is now tied for fourth place on Duquesne's all-time scoring list with 38 points.

COACH ALVINE QUOTE: "The first half was a bit of a stuggle for us. Our second half performance, however, was fantastic. To be down a goal at halftime, on the road, and respond with three goals to win the game speaks volumes about the character and mentality of our team."

UP NEXT: The Dukes will travel to Olean, N.Y. to face St. Bonaventure Thursday night at 7 p.m. Duquesne will then return home to host Davidson next Sunday at 1 p.m.
