QUICK RECAP: The Duquesne volleyball team evened its season mark at 12-12 and improved to 6-4 in Atlantic 10 play after its 3-0 victory over La Salle on Friday night in Philadelphia.
Lacey Levers led all players with 11 kills and five blocks, Mary Henry recorded 33 assists and Camryn Vecera had 15 digs.
The Dukes led from wire-to-wire in the 1st set. Abbie Trzeciak's kill followed by a Sammy Kline ace started the ball rolling for Duquesne, who jumped out to an early 11-4 lead. La Salle only scored consecutive points once in the set as the Dukes won 25-14.
The 2nd set was closer with three lead changes and 10 ties. Duquesne led 15-10 before a 10-4 run gave the Explorers a 20-19 advantage. With the set deadlocked at 21-21, Duquesne would win the final four points of the set, capped by a Maddie Bazelak kill to take the set 25-21.
Duquesne won the first four points of the 3rd set and never looked back. The Explorers tied the set at 7-7, but would only muster five more points the rest of the way. The Dukes ended the set on an 11-2 run. Maggie Burnham and Kori Johnson ended the match with a block.
UP NEXT: The Dukes return home next Friday at 7:00 p.m. in a rematch against VCU. On Oct. 25th, the Rams defeated the Dukes 3-1 in Richmond.
