PITTSBURGH - L.G. Gill led four players in double figures with 17 points as Duquesne held Howard to 37.3 percent shooting in posting an 81-63 win at Palumbo Center.
TySean Powell had 13, Micah Mason 12 and Eric James 11 for the Dukes who shot 52.5 percent.
James Daniel III led Howard with a game-high 22 points.
The Dukes hit their first two 3-point attempts and never looked back in posting their first wire-to-wire win since last Dec. 29 at Texas-Pan American. Gill had 11 and Powell 10 - including four dunks - in a first half that ended with the Dukes up 41-30.
Duquesne outscored Howard 12-0 off turnovers in the opening 20 minutes and 19-4 for the game.
Daniel scored 11 in the first 5:35 of the second half to help the Bison cut the lead to seven.
Howard trailed 54-47 when Derrick Colter found Mason for his third 3-pointer that upped the lead back to 10. Mason added another 3-pointer - his last of the evening - on Duquesne's next possession to make it a 13-point game.
DU took its first 20-point lead on a Jordan Robinson free throw with 3:41 left.
Gill, who was 8-of-11 from the field, added a career-high eight rebounds.
Powell, who entered the game second in the nation with a .789 field goal percentage, was 6-of-6 from the field in his first career start.
Mason, who tied Jordan Stevens for game high with five assists, was 4-of-9 from the 3-point arc.
Duquesne assisted on 22 of 32 field goals.
The Dukes return to action on Friday to face Pitt in the annual City Game at CONSOL Energy Center. The 83rd match-up between the two, set for a 7:00 p.m. start, will be carried live by ESPN3.

Duquesne never trailed in posting its first wire-to-wire win since an 88-69 victory at Texas-Pan American on Dec. 29 of last year.
Freshman forward TySean Powell, who entered the game second nationally in field goal percentage at .789 (15-19), went 6-of-6 from the field in scoring 13 points in his first career start ... Powell had four dunks - all in the first half - in bringing his team high total to 10 ... Powell is now 21-of-25 (.840) from the field on the young season.
The Dukes outscored the Bison 19-4 off turnovers, 38-14 in the paint and 15-0 in fast break points.
Duquesne's largest lead was 23 (81-58) with 1:03 left.
Friday's City Game vs. Pitt begins a season-long stretch of three in a row away from Palumbo Center for the Dukes. DU is at Penn State on Dec. 10 (9:00 p.m., Big Ten Network) and at Robert Morris on Dec. 13 (4:00 p.m.).
