QUICK RECAP: The Duquesne volleyball team's record-setting 9-game winning streak came to an end on Friday night after a 3-2 loss at Saint Louis.
Arielle Love had a team-high 18 kills, hit .600 and had four blocks. Molly Davet recorded a double-double of 12 kills and 13 digs. Lacey Levers had 12 kills, six blocks and hit .476. Liis Kullerkann had 10 kills. Mary Henry recorded 51 assists and 15 digs. Patti Abshire had 12 digs and Sammy Kline added 12 for the Dukes.
After splitting the first four sets, the teams entered into a marathon 4th set. With the score tied 14-14, SLU's Megan Gilbert had a kill to set up match point. The Dukes would respond with a Davet kill followed by a Billikens attack error. Now Duquesne was one point away from winning, but Gilbert's kill evened the score at 16-16.
The teams traded the next four points before Kullerkann's attack error gave Saint Louis a 19-18 lead. A Davet kill deadlocked the score at 19-19, but a SLU kill followed by a DUQ attack error gave the Billikens the set 21-19 and the match 3-2.
UP NEXT: The Dukes finish out the regular season on Nov. 16th at Dayton. With the Flyers 3-0 win at La Salle tonight, they have won the conference regular season championship and will be the #1 seed at the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship. Duquesne's seed is still undetermined.
