Duquesne's swimming team improved its dual meet record to 5-2 with a 152-110 victory Saturday morning at Marshall.
The Dukes and Thundering Herd each won six of the 12 individual races, but the Red and Blue won both relays and captured 9 of the 12 possible second place finishes to gain the point advantage.
The meet opened with DU winning the 400-yard medley relay by 1/3 of a second with a time of 3:58.65. MU won the next two races before Hallie McCue and Morgan Fink split the first and second place points with equal times of 59.47 in the 100 backstroke.
Marshall then won the next two races before Samantha Ray and Claire Nobles finished 1-2 in the 50 freestyle with times of 24.99 and 25.06 respectively.
The Dukes then dominated the 100 free with Ray taking first in 53.67, Molly O'Brien placing second in 54.35 and Nobles taking third in 54.59.
The Herd won the 200 backstroke next, then Meghan Smith took first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.19 followed by Laura Murphy in 2:27.61. Marshall answered by taking the top two spots in the 500 free before Smith won for a second time, taking the 100 butterfly in 57.87.
Miriam McGeath and Nicole Bruneel took gold and silver in the 200 individual medley with McGeath posting a time of 2:10.95 and Bruneel following with a time of 2:11.89. The meet ended as Duquesne won the 200 free relay in 1:39.71.
The Dukes wrap up the regular season at home next Saturday, Jan. 25 as they host Mount St. Mary's on Senior Day at 1:00 at Towers Pool. Smith, McGeath and Hannah Huber will be honored before the meet. The Red and Blue will then take nearly a month off before competing in the Atlantic 10 Championship Feb. 19-22 in Geneva Ohio.
