DU Swimmers Defeat La Salle and St. Bonaventure

Duquesne's swimming team took on two Atlantic 10 opponents Saturday at SPIRE Insitute in Geneva, Ohio and came home with a pair of wins. The Dukes defeated St. Bonaventure, 197-125 and took down La Salle, 181-147.

The Dukes opened the event with a win in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:56.62. They also won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:38.40 and the 400 free relay in 3:34.32.

Individual winners included freshman Morgan Fink in the 200 backstroke in 2:05.77, junior Line Lovberg in the 200 butterfly in 2:05.86, Samantha Ray in the 50 free in 24.50, freshman Hallie McCue in the 100 backstroke in 59.61, senior Meghan Smith in the 100 butterfly in 57.55 and senior Miriam McGeath in the 200 individual medley in 2:10.08.

"Another great team effort today," said head coach David Sheets. "We viewed this meet as a great benchmark for the program against two solid teams. We swam very well today."

"We are not where we want to be, but the ladies continue to work hard to keep the program on path for who we want to become at the end of the season."

The Dukes return to action on Saturday, Nov. 9 as they host Youngstown State at noon at Towers Pool.
