PITTSBURGH - Tray Woodall scored a game-high 24 points and Lamar Patterson had 13 as Pitt (8-1) held Duquesne (4-4) to 31.6 percent shooting in a 66-45 win at CONSOL Energy Center.
Sean Johnson was the lone double-digit scorer for the Dukes with 13. Jeremiah Jones and Kadeem Pantophlet had 6 rebounds each for DU, which was outrebounded 49-33.
Steven Adams had 14 rebounds, including 9 of the Panthers' 21 offensive boards.
Johnson tied the game at 15-15 on a three-point play with 8:12 left in the first half, before Pitt closed the half with a 14-2 run.
Duquesne briefly cut it to nine in the opening minute of the second half before one of Woodall's five 3-pointers gave the Panthers a double-digit lead they would maintain for the remainder of the game.
Pitt outscored the Duquesne 19-3 in second chance points and 20-7 off turnovers.
DU went 5-of-21 from the 3-point arc with Johnson and Quevyn Winters connecting on two each. Woodall went 5-of-8 from 3-point as the Panthers finished 9-fo-17 from the arc.
