Dukes Cruise Past Canisius, 136-69

Duquesne's swimming team captured a 136-69 victory over visiting Canisius Friday evening at Towers Pool.

Meghan Smith and Miriam McGeath each won two individual races while Katy Hare and Bret Luke each won a race and helped win a relay.

The Dukes opened the contest by winning the 400-yard medley relay in 4:04.51. After finishing second and third in the 1,000 free, DU rattled off six straight wins with Smith taking the 200 free in 1:58.98, Hare winning the 50 free in 25.01, McGeath finishing first in the 200 IM in 2:12.19, Smith touching first in the 200 butterfly, Luke winning the 100 free in 55.13 and Morgan Claycomb taking the 200 back in 2:12.06.

The Golden Griffins then won the 500 free before McGeath won the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.44 and the 400 free relay won in 3:41.98.

The Dukes will take a couple weeks off before competing in the three-day Akron Invitational Dec. 2-4.
