Volleyball Drops Five Set Decision to Temple 3-2

PHILADELPHIA - The Duquesne volleyball team fell in five sets to Temple on Friday afternoon. The set scores were 25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 17-25 and 15-13.

The Dukes fall to 17-11 overall and 7-7 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

Sara Scheirman had a double-double of 11 kills and 20 digs. Allison Foschia had 18 kills and 12 digs. Patti Abshire recorded a match-best 27 digs.

After dropping the first two set, the Dukes came back to win the next two sets.

In the fifth set, a Scheirman kill gave Duquesne a 10-8 lead. However, Temple would go on to score the next six points to take a 14-11 lead. The Dukes held off two match points with back-to-back kills by Foschia, but TU's Gabriella Matautia's kill gave Temple the set 15-13 and the match 3-2.

The Dukes close out the regular season at La Salle tomorrow afternoon.
