PITTSBURGH - Duquesne's three-match winning streak was ended on Friday night after falling to Saint Louis 3-0 at the Palumbo Center.

Sara Scheirman had a match-high 15 digs and nine kills. Allison Foschia also recorded nine kills. Taylor Jones recorded 34 assists and Ashley Buse and Arielle Love had three blocks.

This match was tight in all three sets. In the first set, with Saint Louis leading, 24-21, the Dukes were able to hold off two SLU set points before the Billikens' Carly Markum had a kill that gave the visitors the 25-23 win.

With the second set tied at 22-22, SLU's Emma Goldschmidt and Andrea Beaty had back-to-back kills to put them up 24-22. After a Duquesne timeout, they came back with a Scheirman kill, but on the next play, Beaty answered with a kill. The Billikens won the set 25-23 and took a 2-0 lead into the intermission.

Ten of the first 15 points in the third set resulted in a side-out. With SLU leading 21-19, the Billikens rattled off four straight points off of four straight Duquesne attack errors. The third set final was 25-19 and the match 3-0.

After a week off, the Dukes remain at home to host Rhode Island on Oct. 28th and Fordham on Oct. 30th for Senior Day.

About the Side-Out Foundation (from the foundation web site)
The Side-Out Foundation (Side-Out) was established in 2004 to raise money and awareness about Cancer through the recreational activity of volleyball. Our name underscores the purpose of our organization - "side-out" in volleyball occurs when one team wins a point while its opponent is serving, thereby regaining serve or control of play. Likewise in the war against Cancer, Side-Out will support health care professionals and researchers help women and men with Cancer maintain / regain control of their own lives through improved awareness, education, detection, treatment, and cure, thereby enabling them to live life to the fullest.

DIG PINK 101
Dig Pink is a Breast Cancer Awareness Rally being held all of October to raise awareness and funds. Every year we want to make a statement by holding hundreds, potentially thousands, of featured High School and College matches across the country to help educate and raise funds to eradicate this terrible disease. Proceeds will go towards doing something significant and identifiable in the fight against Breast Cancer.
