Volleyball Defeats Saint Francis, Pa. 3-0

LORETTO, Pa. - The Duquesne volleyball team improved to 6-2 on the season after its 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-18) victory over Saint Francis, Pa. on Tuesday evening.

The win, which took only 70 minutes to complete, was the Dukes' 26th in 27 meetings against the Red Flash who fell to 2-5 on the season.

Duquesne had 34 kills with Allison Foschia leading the way with eight. Sarah Svorinic recorded 27 assists and Amy Palko had a match-high 15 digs.

With SFU leading 19-18 in the first set, DU would score seven of the next nine points. Brittany Poling's kill ended the first set giving Duquesne a 25-21 win.

The Dukes were in control from start-to-finish in the second set. DU would lead by as many as 13 points before a Red Flash error ended the set 25-13.

After trailing early in the third set 4-3, Duquesne would go on an 8-3 run to take an 11-7 lead and not look back. Kristen Hammergren's kill ended the set 25-18 and the match 3-0.

The Dukes return to Big Ten country this weekend for the Active Ankle Challenge on the campus of Purdue University. On Friday Sept. 10, Duquesne will take on the host Boilermakers and Belmont followed by Connecticut the next day.
