Lehigh Box Score | Morgan State Box Score

PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne volleyball team opened its season with a pair of 3-0 shutout victories over Lehigh (25-21, 25-10, 25-10) and Morgan State (25-17, 25-7, 25-14) on the first day of the 2010 Courtyard by Marriott Invitational.

Liz Homan led the Dukes in the first match against Lehigh with a match-high eight kills. Sarah Svorinic added 25 assists and Brittany Poling and Allison Foschia combined for 21 digs - 11 and 10 respectively.

Angelika Kopacz had a team-best eight kills for the Mountain Hawks.

In DU's second match of the evening, Nicole Wright led the way with a match-high 10 kills. Amy Palko recorded 15 digs to lead all players.

In the other matches, Morgan State defeated Saint Francis, Pa. 3-2 and Lehigh defeated SFU 3-1.

The event continues Saturday morning when Duquesne hosts Radford at 11:00am. The second match of the day is Morgan State and Montana State at 3:00 p.m. The Dukes and Montana State close out the evening with a 7:00 p.m. match.
