ST. LOUIS - The Duquesne women's soccer team overcame a 1-0 deficit with a pair of second half goals to defeat host Saint Louis 2-1 on Friday evening.
The deciding goal came in the 71st minute when a corner kick deflected off a SLU defender and into the net.
The Billikens (1-7-5, 0-3-0 A-10) took an early lead just 1:45 into the match. Saint Louis' Allison Hu a took the ball from the left side, and Jenny Hummert headed the ball to the left of Dukes' goalkeeper Gabby Morrin on the inside the post.
Bridget Lynch had a chance to tied the contest in the waning second of the first half, but was stopped by SLU keeper Katie Walsh.
DU made it level at the 55:43 mark on Ariel Torres first career goal from 12 yards out. The own goal happened 16 minutes later preserving the Dukes victory.
Gabby Morrin made a pair of saves in the victory.
"We got off to a disappointing start conceding so early," said head coach Tim Zundel. "Our team fought back hard in the second half and found a way to win against a program we have never beaten in our history and I am very pleased with our effort tonight."
The Dukes stay on the road for a Sunday afternoon match at Charlotte. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
