Duquesne University's rowing team opened its fall season at the Head of the Ohio on Oct. 9.
"Results wise, we had a very good first outing," said head coach Joe Setting. "I'm encouraged that our team results show that we have a very strong competitive balance among the entire team."
In the open women's eight event, Duquesne's varsity 8's placed fifth and sixth in the 17-entry event. The "A" boat finished with a time of 15:21.59, just a little over six seconds out of second place and the "B" boat finished with a time of 15:28.36.
In the open women's four race, DU's varsity 4 captured eighth place out of 24 entries with a time of 17:08.71. In addition, the Dukes' women's lightweight four took home second place, behind a strong Pitt team.
Action continues on Saturday, Oct. 16 as the Red and Blue head to Rochester, N.Y. for the Head of the Genesee.
