Duquesne wrestling team wrapped up the dula match portion of its season with a 29-14 loss to visiting Davidson, Sunday norning at the Palumbo Center. Four Dukes earned individual wins, including senior Scott Black, who wrestled his final match at Palumbo.
Junior Billy Chamberlain opened things up at 125 pounds with a 10-0 major decision for a 4-0 Duquesne lead. The Wildcats though won the next three bouts before junior Nathan Reinhart won by a score of 6-1 at 157 pounds to move to within 15-7.
The Red and Blue would win every other match the rest of the way with junior Ryan Sula winning a major decision of 12-3 at 174 pounds and Black taking a 6-3 triumph at 197 pounds.
The match ended with 6-1, 210-pound senior John Simmons taking on Davidson's 6-6, 284-pound heavyweight. Simmons was able to force overtime, but bowed 6-2.
The Dukes will begin preparations for the NCAA East Regional Championships to be held March 7 in Boiling Springs, N.C. The winners of each weight class at the regional will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship.
