Duquesne's men's swimming team finished in third place out of eight teams at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship. The third place showing ties the all-time DU best finish, set two years ago.
Freshman Roman Becicka wrapped up his first A-10 championship with three school records under his belt, dropping the 1,650-yard freestyle mark with a third place time of 15:49.15.
Sophomore Edward LeBlanc captured a bronze medal in the 100 freestyle with a time of 45.60, before junior Ian Walsh secured a silver in the 200-breaststroke with a school record time of 2:03.76.
One last school record dropped in the 200 butterfly as sophomore Jim O'Hara placed second in the 200 butterfly in 1:50.04.
In all, the Dukes broke nine school records (eight individual, one relay) at the four-day event and boasted two gold medals, six silver medals and six bronze medals.
