Red and Blue Capture Three Medals in Day Two Action

The men's swimming team collected two silver medals and one bronze in Thursday evening's day two action at the Atlantic 10 Championship. In addition, freshman Roman Becicka set a new school record in the 200-yard individual medley.

Sophomore Edward LeBlanc opened the day with a second place showing in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:29.77, just 4/100th's of a second off the school record time he set at last year's A-10's.

Becicka followed in the next race with a fourth place time of 1:52.99 in the 200 IM. His time of 1:51.77 in the morning trials was good for a new Duquesne record. Junior Ian Walsh also tallied team points for the Dukes in 200 IM.

Sophomore Jim O'Hara led three Dukes in the 50 freestyle with a silver medal performance in a time of 20.66. Following him were junior Brendan Schilling and sophomore Rich Ryan.

The Dukes wrapped up the day with a third place finish in the 200 free relay in a time of 1:22.35.

Day three action will begin Friday morning at 10:30 am with time trials in five events, followed by the finals at 6:30 pm in six events.
