Two Duquesne University swimmers received Atlantic 10 honors as sophomore Roman Becicka (Gem Lake, Minn./Mounds View) was named the A-10 Men's Performer of the Week and freshman Mark Krchnak (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) was named the A-10 Men's Rookie of the Week for the week ending Nov.1.
Becicka won three races for the Red and Blue as he captured gold in the 1,000-yard freestyle at Bucknell with a winning time of 9:49.49. He also finished first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:53.66 and placed first in the 200 butterfly in 1:52.47.
Krchnak tallied two second place finishes versus Bucknell as he placed second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:11.57 and finished second in the 100 breaststroke in 59.08. He also had a fifth place showing in the 200 IM in 2:01.66.
The Red and Blue return to action on Friday, Nov. 6 as they travel to Niagara for a 2:00 pm meet.
