MOON TOWNSHIP - The Duquesne volleyball team win its fifth match in their last six after their 3-0 win over Robert Morris on Tuesday night.
Nicole Wright and Sara Scheirman combined for 18 kills as the Dukes improve to 12-6, 5-1 on the season.
The Dukes controlled the first set, jumping out to an early 13-8 lead. RMU would chip away at the DU lead, getting within two points at 17-15. But Duquesne would only allow two Robert Morris point the rest of the way, winning the first set 25-17.
The teams split the second set's first 10 points, before the Dukes went on a 12-4 run. The Colonials made a comeback getting within three points twice. With DU leading 24-19, RMU fought off three set points before Liz Homan's kill gave the Dukes a 25-22 set win.
The third set was played tight, with 11 ties and seven lead changes. With the match deadlocked at 18-18, the Dukes took the lead after an RMU error they would not relinquish. Jessica Artman's kill sealed the set at 25-22 and the match 3-0.
Next up for DU is a weekend homestand with Charlotte on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and George Washington on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
