Duquesne's men's swimming team opened the 2009-10 campaign with a narrow, 123-114 loss at Buffalo. The Red and Blue dominated the swimming events, but could not overcome the diving points scored by the Bulls.
The Dukes won seven of the nine individual races, led by sophomore Roman Becicka who captured three wins. Becicka won the 1,000-yard freestyle, the 200 IM and the 500 free.
Junior Edward LeBlanc won twice, taking first in the 200 free and the 100 free while junior Jim O'Hara won the 50 free in and senior Ian Walsh won the 200 breaststroke.
The Red and Blue were also victorious in the 400 medley relay as freshman Mitchell Smith along with Walsh, O'Hara and LeBlanc won the event.
The Dukes return to action on Saturday, Oct. 31 as they travel to Bucknell for a 2:00 pm meet.
