Volleyball Defeats Niagara 3-1

BALTIMORE - The Duquesne volleyball team defeated Niagara 3-1 this afternoon as the part of the Maryland Baltimore County Tournament.

The Dukes dropped the first set 25-18 before taking the next three sets 25-17, 25-19 and 25-14.

Tricia Mullen recoded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Amy Palko had a game-high 18 digs. Chelsea Tillotson had 35 assists and Jessica Artman had 10 kills while hitting .400.

As a team, the Dukes hit a season-high .362 while committing season-low 10 errors. The victory moves DU to 5-0, their best start since the 2002 season when Duquesne began the season 7-0. The victory also marks the seventh in seven tries against the Purple Eagles.

The Dukes return to the court Saturday for a pair of matches - 10:00 a.m. against Maryland Eastern Shore and 5:00 p.m. at host UMBC.
